Read what you write

That's advice I hear over and over. I read dystopian fiction because it stretches my imagination. My own writing reflects that, but in a kinder and gentler way than is usual. I'm not sure that when the lights go out, everybody will reach for a gun and start hating their neighbours. At least, I hope not.
